MUST Statement on Social Media Boycott and Protest

MUST Statement on Social Media Boycott and Protest

MUST has steadfastly called out racial abuse directed at our players on social media. We stand fully behind this weekend’s boycott of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. MUST accounts on these platforms will be stood down from 3pm Friday until midnight on Monday.

We are aware of plans for fans to protest before Sunday’s match which naturally we'd normally have covered on social media. The owners should not be surprised by this action that they have themselves triggered. We fully support the right to protest in a way that is legal, peaceful, Covid safe and does not compromise the security of the team.

While our social media channels will not report on events over the weekend, we will provide updates through our website and email channels. Supporters who are not already signed up may wish to register as a Lite (free) member:

Notes:
Fan protests are planned outside Old Trafford from 2pm on Sunday ahead of the Liverpool match.

There are a few other things you can do right now:

1. For UK members there is a petition on Parliament’s website to ask the Government to bring in a law requiring all football clubs to have at least 50% + 1 fan ownership, as there is in Germany. The link is here (https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/583310) and we’d urge all UK members to sign it and/or ask others based in the UK to do so too. If we can get the number of signatories to 100,000 then the subject will be considered for a debate in Parliament which adds to political momentum.

 2. For all members - we are going to need a lot of extra resources for the campaign we have planned so if you are able to RENEW or UPGRADE your Full Membership and/or make a small monthly donation or a one-off contribution please login here www.imust.org.uk/Account/Login using your membership number and then click on "MY ACCOUNT" then "MY PROFILE to RENEW or DONATE (scroll down) or to EDIT your details. See foot of email for forgotten password details.

3. For all members - please ask all United fans amongst your friends and family to become a full Member of MUST now. The more members we have, the more resources we have to carry out campaign activity, and the louder voice we have overall. The link is here - https://www.imust.org.uk/Account/Register/All

Please share this on social media and chat groups too.

Thank you for your support
